Postcards from Serbia

Today there was another great surprise in my post box!
Three postcards from Serbia, send by my friend Saša :)

There were two cards from the old RAM fortress, located on the Danube River
The cards show us situations in both the winter and the summer,
and I think they are both equally nice :)
When would you go?

The final card is a nice view of Sremski Karlovci,
a small city near the capital Novi Sad
This card is really big, about twice as big as a normal postcard! :D

So many stamps on my envelope! :p
On one of the cards, there was a map from Serbia

Thank you Saša for this great swap! <3

TBT: Dreaming about paradise...French Polynesia

Every Thursday I'm looking back at a card that I received in the past
Today, I'm sharing with you this card from Tahiti, French Polynesia

On my card, you can see Mo'orea, which means 'yellow lizard'
French Polynesia consists of over hundred little islands
in the South Pacific Ocean, and Tahiti is the capital

French Polynesia is known all over the world as a popular honeymoon destination
I'd be very happy to visit such a breathtaking island for my honeymoon :)

Stamps with special sea-snails on them

It's true, they really are from Tahiti ^^
Do you like it too? Where would you go on honeymoon, if money was not an issue?
Would you choose a paradise like this too?

Thanks again for this postcard Sarah, it's one of my favourites! :)

A funny card from Christmas Island

This awesome postcard was send by Amanda from Christmas Island
It's my first card from there, so it's very special to me :)

On the card we see a bunch of 'Gecarcoidea natalis', also known as Red crabs
These sort of crabs live only on Christmas Island

An interesting fact about them: they have such a hard skeleton that they can even
break a car's tire! That's why rangers on Christmas Island build fences along heavily
traveled roads to prevent people from driving over a red crab

Even the postmark shows a crab! :)
Do you have a special animal that only lives at your place?
In Belgium, we have some special breeds of cows, chickens, horses and dogs
But my favourite? It's the 'Flemish Giant-rabbit' :)

Thank you Amanda for this colourfull postcard! I just love it! :)

A beautiful postcard from Macedonia

I got this postcard from Macedonia from my friend Ivana

It shows us the 'Bay of the bones' in Ohrid
Altough the name sounds a bit...creepy, it really looks like a beautiful place to visit!

Nice colorfull stamp, isn't it? :)
Ivana thinks that I should visit it one day, in stead of reading about it on a postcard. I agree ^^
So Macedonia (and especially Ohrid) is now on my 'to do-list' :)
What countries would you like to visit in the near future?

Thank you again for swapping a postcard with me! <3

3 postcards from Italy

My aunt and uncle visited Rome, Italy last month
and brought me 3 colourfull postcards :)

About 5 years ago, I visited Rome too and I loved it very much (especially the ice cream! ^^ )
Who else has been there already? :) What did you like the most about Italy?

What to do on a lazy Sunday... :)

 Yay, it's Sunday!
Time to sent out some postcards to people all over the world :)

Here's my pink 'bag of Happiness', because whenever I open it,
I know I'm gonna do fun stuff :)

So what's in it?

First of all, of course, my collection of postcards
I go shopping for cards every 2-3 months, because it's a good excuse
to visit a big city or have lunch with a friend :)

I usually buy my cards in a small souvenir shop in Antwerpen, which is close to my hometown
The man who sells cards already knows me... A while ago he brought a box of old postcards for me,
that I could have for free!
He's such a nice man and I can't even think about buying my cards elsewhere :p

I know that Belgian postcards are not really 'special', because it's not a so-called rare country
But... we do have attractive things! ^^
Last year I took these free entrance tickets for the Atomium and Mini Europe (great
touristic places in Brussels, capital city of Belgium) and I like to add them to the cards that I send
Another thing that I like to add are small chocolates, wrapped with paintings of old Belgian houses
Yummy! ^^

Finally, I use stickers and pencils to decorate my cards
Last weekend I've bought some washi-tape too, the first tape shows paintings of camera's
and the other tape says: 'Enjoy the blue skies'

Colourfull stickers, flowers & cats & stars

My washi-tape! ^^
Now I can't wait to go back to my postcards again :)
How do you decorate your cards? How much time do you spent on it?
How important do you find it to receive decorated cards?

Have a nice Sunday! :)

A letter from the USA

Today I would like to give some attention to charity
Since one year, I'm writing a letter to a prisoner once in a while, and it makes me very happy

This letter comes from Jessica, a very nice and smart woman
In our letters, we just talk about anything and nothing: our hobbies, what we've been up to
the last couple of weeks, and stuff like that
There's no pressure at all, and I can recommend writing a prisoner to everyone!

What I personally like the most about writing an inmate,
is the fact that they are always so happy to receive a letter
I really feel that I can make a difference in their life, just by sending an envelope
every now and then

I hope YOU will click on one of the next links :)
It's weekend, so I'm sure you can find some time to write a letter to someone!

Do you use any other website? Please comment underneath :)

A colorfull card from Germany

I swapped a postcard with Sebastian from Germany
I met him on the Interpals website,
where we talked about the happiness of receiving a handwritten postcard :)

On the card we can see some views from the Allgäu-region in Germany

A very cute stamp <3
'It's Spring'... This sticker made me very happy :)
Thanks Sebastian for this wonderfull swap! :)

TBT: my favourite postcard of all times from Pitcairn

It's Throwback Thursday!
Every Thursday I will post a blog about a postcard that I've already received a while ago

Today I present to you, my card from Pitcairn!

I received it about a year ago from my friend Stein, who was there on vacation
Postcards and other things are only shipped from there once every three months,
so I was very lucky to receive this beautiful card

On the pictures we see the famous Bounty Bay, the Down Rope
and our friend Miss T, a giant turtle who lives on the island

Even the stamps make me dream away...

Who else likes this special card so much? :)

My first card from beautiful West Papua

I got this beautiful postcard from my friend Zaky, who I met at the Interpals website
The card was send from Wayag Island, the most beautiful island in Raja Ampat, West Papua

The Raja Ampat Islands are known as 'the lost paradise on earth',
a place where you can go diving, snorkeling and enjoy the underwater biodiversity
That's why there are often many tourists, but it still looks like an untouched natural place!

Zaky warned me not to go diving in a place called Paiynemo,
because there might be little sharks swimming around there ^^

Thank you so much for this beautiful postcard and the nice conversations we have!
I hope I can visit you and your beautiful island one day :)

Two postcards from Turkey

I received this wonderfull envelope containing 2 postcards from Turkey
and 2 stories written by my friend Ivana :)

The first postcard shows beautiful Antalya
Ivana says that it's a magical place where you feel like
waiting for the lady of the lake to show up :)

On the second card we can see a snowy Turkish landscape
The text on the card says: Happy New Year!
I didn't knew that Turkey could have such cold temperatures, around -20°C!

Thank you Ivana for this swap! <3

My first postcard from Moldova

My friend Michaël from Starring you has send me this beautiful card from Moldova
It shows you the 'Old Orhei', which looks like a very nice place to me...
What do you think? :)

Clearly, it's hard to find any postcards in Moldova!
Michaël has been searching for 3 days to find a shop where they sell postcards! Wow! :o

These stamps made me laugh :D
Thanks Michaël and Starring you for sending me again an extraordinary postcard!

My first postcard from Ireland

I received this wonderfull postcard from Ireland
It was send by Henry, whose house doesn't have a number, but a name! :o

It's a multiple view card showing 'Wild Ireland'
We can see sea cliffs, donkeys, sheep, and my favourite: the Atlantic Puffin bird <3

Did you know that Ireland is the third largest island in the world? :)

A stamp showing an Irish orchid!

A really cute sticker ^^
Thank you Henry for swapping a postcard with me! :)

A postcard from Sochi, Russia

Today I received this postcard from Sochi, Russia
It was send by Katy, who I met at the Interpals website

On this card, we can see the seaport of Sochi. This port is working all year round
It's one of Katy's favourite places in Russia

The tall building in the middle is a railway station that was contructed by Alabyan, a famous Russian architect

I love the stamps!
Thank you Katy for swapping a postcard with me!

A postcard from Malta

Today I received this beautiful postcard from Valletta, Malta
My friend Lara was there on vacation and she tought about sending me a postcard! :)

On the card, you can see Valletta, the capital city of Malta
The backside of the card says: 'The magnificent fortifications, build by knights to protect the city, become a scene out of a fairy tale when they are floodlit by night'
I think it's true, what about you? :)

Also the stamp on the card was very interesting. It shows a nurse camp during World War I
There's also a poppy (flower) on it, which was quite the symbol of WWI.

Thank you Lara for this beautiful city view by night!
